Somewhere on the Anne Beadell and Connie Sue Highways - July 14- Day 8 on track.

STATS:
Distance travelled: 151.6
Temp overnight: minus something...

An eventful day today, freezing temperatures overnight, as photos will illustrate. We had several stops to check out flora. Steve's car developed a bad rattle, which was a broken battery tray. Some fantastic work by the bush mechanics got things going again. The stop enabled Meg to hang out the washing to dry while we waited.

We made it to Neale Junction today, which saw us leave the Anne Beadell Highway and turn right onto the Connie Sue Highway, we were all hoping that the "daughter" provided a smoother surface.

Just to prove the freezing conditions, Meg's washing was hanging under the awning of their tent, and here is Milani with her solid thermals...
And here is Meg with her frozen top as well. Sun rising behind the plane behind them. NB - we are now on WA time, so the sun gets up at a reasonable time.
There was ice everywhere, including Ska's mirror.
The track into the plane wreck, contained the first real sandhills. Here is Steve going over the top on the way out.
They quickly slowed up to follow a camel down the track.
I missed the roadsign the night before. Here tis.
a Senna.
One of the many varieties of Eremophila we saw.
There tis again.
Something on a bush that I liked.
Here is the welding kit of the bush mechanic. Vice grips for a handle, Delites box for a wleding mask, plus 2 or 3 car batteries and jumper leads.
Rod and Stef removing the battery.
OK, batteries are attached, battery tray bits are ready to be joined togehter, everyone is bent over inspecting, lets weld.
Rod at work, that is a welding flash you see.
Now it's Col's turn. "Don't look Steve"
Rod with his 'box of tricks' from the Magic Pudding Ute.
Now for the tricky bit, putting it back together. Steve still looks concerned.
It was all hands on deck or WOL to put it back together. Steve is looking much happier.

Everyone gathers for the final stages of the operation.

This photo has been "adjusted" to protect the innocent and prevent any potential litigation!

mmmm, no words can describe.Yup Sarah that is one embarassing Dad.

a Solanum cleistogamum... I think.
The flowers were so papery.
Reve and Sarah and Solanum.
Another Eremophila.
The buds looke like Jubes.
Some yellow acacia.
another one, very tiny flower.
Sculptural grass.
These nuts were huge, bigger than a 50cent piece.
More unrelenting CORRUGATIONS.
Yay we made it!!! This is Neale Junction. the end of the Anne Beadell Highway and the beginning of the Connie Sue Highway.
Just to be sure here is Len's plaque stating all the facts.
and here we all are at the end of the Anne Beadell.
and how do we feel?
Entertainment for the night was burning some copper wire, which created great colours in the fire. See next photo and video below.
