The Real trip begins - July 7 - Day 1 'on the track'

STATS:
Distance travelled: 141.5kms.

Well today we are all together and ready to start the trip on the Anne Beadell Highway.
Here is the gang from left to right - Sarah, Milani, Reve, Stef, Meg, Steve, Col, Nicola and Rod.
Photo in front of blower truck and our vehicles at Coober Pedy.
Here is Puss in Boots (PIB) as we follow Steve & Co around the "left" turn onto the Mabel Creek track.
This part of the journey looks like a cinch, thet track is great.
The map of the track we are starting at Coober Pedy on the far right and going as far as Neale Junction, which is the first dot to the left of the WA border.
A shot of the track - shows the first of the corrugations - and this certainly was NOT the last of them.

We crossed through the dog fence.
At our lunch stop (about 40kms in) we noticed the oil leaking from my right rear shock. NOT happy Jan... the boys assured me, one can go far with no shock.

Stef undertook some investigations and adjustments never the less.

Some amazing plant life along the way, each toilet stop, or vehicle break revealed an amazing array of flora. Col is also great at spotting interesting trees and plants and we would all stop to look and take photos. This is a fungus.

A Nulla Nulla.
The landscape was "everchanging" this photo shows the Gibber plains, the stones simply shone!

First nights camp - this is my tent and table etc. Note glass of wine at the ready.

Once a campsite was chosen, first task was wood collecting, establish toilet location, dig hole and set up toilet chair and tent, then get tents up and start cooking. Here are the Dundek/Walshes enjoying the first of a few mince meals.
