Well after packing up from our campsite, we headed off to Wingenina Aboriginal Community, to arrange a guide to take us to the Surveyor General's Corner.
Some Dingoes along the way |
A young Desert Oak. |
A view along the way. I liked the single tree on top of the hill. |
Must have been something good to photograph. |
A melon. The camels eat these I believe. |
A nice yellow pea. |
A cool sign on the way to Wingellina. (which I think I have been spelling wrong - oops!) |
One of the many dead vehicles along the roads. |
After securing our guides - Chris and Joshua in Wingellina, and purchasing some icecreams etc from the community store, we were then taken out to the corner, this is the track out. |
The first post marks the corner of WA and SA. Here is me with a foot in both camps. |
Watching. |
Milani straddling two states. |
Here we all are at the first post. |
Second post about 25 metres away marks the CORNER of three States - WA, SA and NT. |
We finally have made it to the MEETING OF THE STATES. Joshua on the left and Chris on the right. |
Organising a cuppa tea at the corner, we boiled the kettle on the gas and Joshua built a quick campfire. |
Milani with her cuppa. |
Spot sitting on the post, so there should be a "spot" from the corner.
A tree in a river bed. Nice big gum. |
A bird on the top of tree. |
A mountain range in the distance...can't recall which one. |
Another photo opportunity, not sure what Col was capturing. |
Some sort of Wattle-y type plant. |
A grass head I liked. |
and again. |
Typical "outback" sign - Dead bonnets are put to good use. |
Our camp tonight was beside a river bed, with some amazing Dingoes howling and a good sunrise...pictures on tomorrow's blog.
