Somewhere on the Anne Beadell - July 11 - Day 5 on track.

STATS:
Distance Travelled: 108.7kms

So we have arrived at Vokes/Voakes Hill corner and another of Len's plates.
Here we all are, checking out the post, plate and visitors book. Each of these markers was pretty exciting, as the track was pretty rough, so all progress was celebrated.
and the rest of the crew, most of the landmarks had a tin, or container that people left bits in, like business cards, stickers etc, as well as a book to sign.
We hit a change in scenery today, with heaps of Triodia (wrongly called spinifex) it is an amazing plan, looks so soft, but soooooo isn't soft.

Here is a Give Way sign in the middle of nowhere, so we turned off the track and lined up at it...cos we could~!

The back of the sign suggests that it should be spelt voAkes, after Bill Voake a member of the 1901 RT Maurice expedition.
Lots of large patches of Thryptomine today. Looked lovely beside the track.
Here is an ant enjoying the nectar I presume.
Just another shot of the vehicles, and the landscape, I think the grasses took my fancy here. By the way, each vehicle had a name, first was Captain Slow (Rod and Col) named in respect of the 98kmph limit on the blacktop, Ska - which is my car meaning white in Native Indian, Then Tuesday - cos Stef and Megs plate is TUE, and lastly Wal, given Steve's number plate WOL.
A shot of the track, just to give you an idea of how bits of it looked, some of these sandy sections were SMOOTH, which was a nice relief.

Roast for tea tonight, here are the boys investigatin the progress.  It was delicious.
I have had a go at some video today to try and give a bit of a sense of some of the track. I really liked these more sandy bits, they were good fun and a welcome break from corrugations. (Scroll down and click the 'play' button below)
