An eventful day today with lots of photos. We captured the sunrise at Lambert's Centre and then stopped often on way out to photograph the wildflowers. Then onward towards Dalhousie Springs, we passed through Finke, crossed back into South Australia, visited the ruins of Charlotte Waters, refuelled at Mt Dare and then headed the last 70km or so to Dalhousie...only to strike BIG trouble about 30kms out - my front left strut broke, stranding us on the side of the road. Dad and I headed back to Mt Dare to see what I could arrange for new parts (on a Saturday 6pm by now) Steve, Reve and Sarah headed to Dalhousie to tell Rod and Col what was going on. Stef, Meg and Milani stayed with my car and attempted to splint the strut in order to move car off track.
I managed to arrange parts with Tim in Brisbane, but he could do nothing till Monday am. Steve had a rough and long journey to Dalhousie. Stef had no luck with strut. So we camped by the track for the night. I have not photos.... I am sure someone does.

 |
This grave was made for a dog, but may have been later used for a human. It is just so hard to imagine anything existing out here, it was very windy and it must be hell in summer. |
